In 2008, the Bloody Point Golf Course was closed, as the Daufuskie Island Resort & Breathe Spa declared bankruptcy. From 2008 to 2011, the course lay untended, and was destroyed by weeds, becoming completely reclaimed by Mother Nature.

When General Manager Patrick Ford arrived to begin the restoration process in 2011, much of the course was covered in weeds towering at 7 feet tall. An initial bush hogging was completed before Love Golf Design, the design company of Davis Love III, was retained to restore the golf course - and to make a few updates along the way.

Early in 2012, Love Golf Design arrived to oversee the restoration of the golf course. During those months, they also removed about 30% of the bunkers and re-contoured many of the greens. The result is a course that is user-friendly when played from the front and an enjoyable challenge when played from the back.

Bloody Point celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of its course in May 2013. Click here to learn more about the Bloody Point Golf Course, or call the Pro Shop at 843.341.5566.
